Dear Teachers,
Every November, we pause to think about what we’re thankful for, and this year, that feels more important than ever. Our lives look so different from anything we could have imagined, but counting our blessings always gives us the energy to keep going. Here at Action, we’re grateful for . . .
- YOU! Our community of creative and caring teachers. We’ve been floored by your ingenuity during an unprecedented back-to-school season and have loved connecting with you in our Action teacher Facebook group. Be sure to join if you haven’t already!
- Our brilliant, thoughtful writers. This year we’re excited to feature fiction from groundbreaking authors like Jerry Craft and Jason Reynolds, as well as longtime contributors like Nora Raleigh Baskin. (Psst . . . your students can “meet” her in the author video for this month’s short story!)
- Our readers—and young people in general. Today’s teens continue to blow us away with their courage and grit. Exhibit A: Native American activist Tokata Iron Eyes, the focus of our Paired Texts this month. Get ready to feel inspired!
What’s getting you through this challenging year? Email me, tweet at me—I love hearing from you!
Warmly,
Kim Tranell, Editorial Director
